The US will make a payment to the UN budget in the near future after a several-month hiatus.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by US Permanent Representative to the UN, Mike Waltz.
In November 2025, Waltz had stated that the US administration had suspended payments to the UN because reforms in the organization were expected.
The US Permanent Representative stated in a recent interview with “Reuters” news agency: “I expect the first tranche of funds to be transferred very soon. I don't think the final amount has been determined, but this will be done within a few weeks”.
According to data from early February, the US's outstanding contributions to the UN budget amounted to approximately 2.19 billion dollars, which constitutes 95 percent of the total debts of all UN countries.
