Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and US Vice President James Vance have signed a joint statement concluding negotiations on a cooperation agreement between the Government of Armenia and the Government of the United States in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
Modern.az website, citing Armenian media, reports that Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a press conference held with Vance.
"This agreement will open a new chapter in the deepening energy partnership between Armenia and the United States, contribute to the diversification of Armenia's energy resources, and attract safe and innovative technologies," Pashinyan said.
J. Vance noted that once nuclear cooperation reaches a practical level, opportunities will open up for the implementation of future projects by American and Armenian companies.
"The initial investment will be 5 billion dollars, with an additional 4 billion dollars in the second phase. This is a mutually beneficial situation for both Armenia and my country in terms of energy security and sustainability. Furthermore, numerous jobs will be created in both the US and Armenia. American technology will come to Armenia - our country is rarely so confident in exporting certain technologies to another country," Vance said.
J. Vance also announced that the sale of surveillance drones worth 11 million dollars to Armenia has been confirmed.
"President Trump understands very well that the best way to ensure peace is to possess the best military technology. The US has this technology, and we are currently confirming the sale of 11 million dollars worth of surveillance drone technology to Armenia," he emphasized.
