Moscow stated that there is no real alternative to the Russian nuclear power plant for Armenia.
Modern.az reports that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that there are no "real alternatives" to Russia's proposals regarding the construction of a new nuclear power plant unit in Armenia.
"We presented a detailed package of proposals to the Armenian side. Rosatom is ready to start implementing the project as soon as possible... There are no real alternatives in terms of reliable, proven technologies or attractive financial parameters," the diplomat noted.
According to him, Moscow intends to continue acting as a guarantor of Armenia's energy security. "The experience of some European countries, including Germany, shows that abandoning nuclear energy can be costly for the national economy," Galuzin added.
He also emphasized that specialists from both countries come from the same "Soviet school" and that work is ongoing to ensure the stable operation of the plant until 2036.
It should be recalled that yesterday, an agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy was signed between Armenia and the United States.
