Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that his country is ready to continue the war if a favorable agreement is not reached.
Modern.az reports that he voiced these thoughts in an interview with “The Atlantic” publication.
According to the publication, some individuals in Zelensky's inner circle are concerned about the closing window of opportunity for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. In their opinion, if an agreement is not reached this spring, the country could face a long-term military confrontation.
Zelensky, however, emphasized that he would prefer to reject an agreement altogether rather than persuade his people to accept an unfavorable one. Despite the full-scale war that has lasted for four years, he stated that they are ready to continue the fight: “Ukraine is not losing”.
The Ukrainian leader also touched upon US President Donald Trump's efforts to stop the war, noting that for Trump, ending this conflict could be a major political victory and the most opportune time for him is the period leading up to the midterm elections in November 2026. However, Zelensky emphasized that the issue is not just political dividends, but the prevention of human casualties.
