French President Emmanuel Macron has announced his decision to establish a direct communication line with Russia.
According to Modern.az, he made this statement during his speech at the Munich Security Conference.
"Negotiations regarding the Ukrainian issue are possible without Europe's participation. However, this will not bring peace. Therefore, we have decided to establish a direct communication line with Russia. We will participate in resolving this problem. When the war in Ukraine ends, we will have to define the rules of coexistence with the Russian Federation, taking into account our security interests. We must be ready to sit at the negotiating table and discuss this," Macron stated.
The French President emphasized that negotiations concerning a new European security architecture must be conducted with the participation of Europeans themselves.
"Our geography will not change. We will live in the same place as Russia, and I do not want anyone else to organize these negotiations," he said.
