Reza Pahlavi, son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, has called on the US for military intervention in Iran.
Modern.az reports that in an interview with Reuters news agency within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, he stated that a possible military step by the US could “save people's lives” and accelerate the collapse of the Iranian regime.
Pahlavi, who lives in the US, noted that the current regime in Iran has weakened and is on the verge of collapse. According to him, a military strike could accelerate the process and encourage people to take to the streets again. He called on President Donald Trump's administration not to prolong negotiations on a nuclear deal with Tehran.
Currently, diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran regarding a possible nuclear agreement are ongoing. Last week, talks were held between US and Iranian diplomats in Oman, and another meeting is reportedly planned. At the same time, the US has increased its military forces in the region.
Trump had previously noted that talks with Iran were difficult and stated that increasing pressure on Tehran might be necessary. US officials have stated that if Trump gives an attack order, the US military is preparing for an operation against Iran that could last for weeks.
