Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, will travel to Oman tomorrow to present Iran's nuclear deal proposal with the US.
Modern.az reports that The New York Times newspaper stated that Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei handed over key levers of power to Larijani amidst the threat of a US military attack and internal protests.
The newspaper's article notes that Larijani "is one of the key heavyweights in the security and political affairs of the Islamic Republic, and the strengthening of his role is aimed at ensuring the stability of the regime in the face of possible attacks and threats against the supreme leadership".
Ali Larijani's influence in Iran has increased in recent months: Larijani oversees internal security issues, cooperation with allies, and participates in negotiations with Washington on the nuclear program.
