Pensions in Armenia will increase starting from April 1.
Modern.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the public in a video message regarding this.
The Prime Minister noted that relatively low pensions would increase by 10,000 drams (26.50 dollars), while higher pensions would increase by a smaller amount. He noted that the increase would be higher when cashback is taken into account.
The Prime Minister also answered the question of why pensions are being increased now.
"Firstly, economic growth in Armenia in 2025, including that projected by international organizations, has been higher than anticipated. This creates additional opportunities, and Armenian citizens should benefit from this," Pashinyan noted.
According to Pashinyan, the increase aims to align the minimum pension with the minimum consumer basket, and the government has pledged to achieve this by June 2026.
It should be recalled that parliamentary elections will take place in Armenia in 4 months.
