“Iran has already developed missiles that can threaten Europe and American military bases abroad, and is currently working on missiles that can reach the United States.”
Modern.az reports that US President Donald Trump stated this in his address to Congress.
He emphasized his desire to resolve the situation through diplomatic means.
"They [Iran] want an agreement, but we have not heard the words 'we will never have nuclear weapons.' One thing I am sure of: I will never allow the world's leading sponsor of terror to acquire nuclear weapons. I cannot allow this," the US President emphasized.
The shortest distance from Iran's borders to the continental United States is 9400 kilometers (5800 miles).
The US has been accumulating significant forces near the Iranian coast for some time, including redirecting its troops from bases in the Middle East. Against this backdrop, Tehran and Washington are holding talks regarding Iran's nuclear program.
Trump's special envoy, Stiv Uitkoff, announced that a new meeting within the framework of the talks would be held on February 26 in Geneva.
Trump stated that he was considering a limited attack against Iran to force Tehran to agree. A day earlier, the US president had threatened Iran with a "very bad day" if Tehran did not agree. On February 19, he stated that the world would learn Iran's future within 10 days.
