The demands put forward by the US to Iran in the Geneva talks have become known.
Modern.az reports that, according to information released by “The Wall Street Journal” citing American officials, Washington demands the dismantling of three main nuclear facilities located in the cities of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan from Tehran. Furthermore, the US insists on the complete transfer of Iran's enriched uranium reserves to American control.
According to the information, the US side has put forward the principle of zero-level uranium enrichment as a key condition. Alongside this, the negotiating delegation stated its readiness to discuss the re-commissioning of the reactor in Tehran for low-level enrichment for medical purposes.
Washington wants the possible agreement to be indefinite. Sanctions are expected to be minimally eased in the initial stage, with additional concessions possible later.
WSJ writes that the Iranian side does not rule out a long-term suspension of uranium enrichment or the implementation of the process through an Arab–Iranian consortium. This model could create an additional control mechanism for the US.
It should be noted that today the third round of talks between the US and Iran on the nuclear agreement has begun in Geneva. The previous meeting was held on February 17. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had stated after the previous meeting that the parties had reached an agreement on key issues and were ready to proceed to details.
