Throughout the night, Pakistan carried out strikes against Taliban government targets in major cities of Afghanistan.
Modern.az reports that Pakistan müdafiə naziri spoke about the attacks and stated that his country considers the conflict an "open war".
"Our patience has run out. Now there is an open war between us and you (Afghanistan-ed.)," said Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
It should be noted that Pakistani sources reported that both air and ground strikes targeted Taliban positions, headquarters, and arms depots along the border. Pakistani government spokesperson Musharraf Zaidi stated that the armed forces continued counter-attacks against Afghan targets. In a post on X, he stated that the strikes were a response to an "unprovoked attack from Afghanistan." Zaidi reported that 133 Taliban fighters were killed and over 200 were wounded. He added that 27 positions on the Afghan side were destroyed and 9 were captured.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, however, stated that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. According to Mujahid, 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 19 positions were captured. He also reported that eight Taliban fighters were killed and 11 were wounded in Nangarhar province. Additionally, 13 civilians were wounded.
It should be noted that official Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants who carry out attacks in Pakistan. The Taliban, however, rejects these accusations, stating that Pakistan's security is its own internal affair. The Taliban government has stated that it will not allow militants to operate from Afghan territory and has warned of a "harsh response" to attacks.
