The news of the divorce between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his wife Anna Hakobyan has sparked new discussions in Armenian society.
According to Modern.az, Armenian political commentator Hakob Badalyan stated that Anna Hakobyan's deprivation of state protection, after moving from the government residence to a rented apartment, could create some dangerous situations.
“I want to draw attention to this point. If this story is not merely an election ploy, I consider it a mistake for Anna Hakobyan to remain, so to speak, deprived of state protection...
Hakobyan is a person who, due to the state status she has held until now, could possess a large amount of confidential information. Therefore, if she is deprived of state protection, there is a risk that this confidential information could be exposed to various "fates”,” Hakob Badalyan stated.
The political commentator also drew attention to another issue:
“There is another aspect to this issue, which, in my opinion, is also extremely important. Anna Hakobyan says: "If you see me alone on the street, do not harm me." Society is multifaceted and layered, and it is impossible to predict what might happen on the street, including possible provocations aimed at presenting Anna Hakobyan as a "victim." Of course, this is not about a direct threat to her life, but rather about humiliating or unpleasant incidents whose consequences could be used against the opposition forces.
Such scenarios are possible. But in politics, especially considering societal experience and well-known international precedents, which scenario can be considered impossible?
Therefore, in my subjective opinion, Anna Hakobyan should be kept in reserve. Of course, I have no intention of reviewing or discussing other matters related to her personal life.”
