Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (SEPAH) has confirmed that the country's Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Aziz Nasirzadeh, was killed as a result of a strike by the US and Israel.
Modern.az reports that the statement says:
"The demise of this prominent defense figure is a great loss for the large family of the armed forces and the Iranian people. However, his dedication will strengthen national unity, accelerate the implementation of large-scale defense programs, and further solidify the strategic will in protecting the country's supreme national interests".
The news was broadcast by Iran's state radio and television company.
