French President Emmanuel Macron announced that a decision had been made to increase the number of warheads in the country's nuclear arsenal.
Modern.az reports that, the French leader stated this in his speech on nuclear deterrence strategy.
Macron noted that, in a rapidly changing and dangerous geopolitical environment, France must maintain its “guaranteed destructive power.”
“I have given instructions to increase the number of nuclear warheads in our arsenal. To prevent any speculation and assumptions, the exact size of our nuclear arsenal will no longer be disclosed to the public. Previously, this information was regularly shared,” he emphasized.
It should be noted that France is one of the few countries officially possessing nuclear weapons and is the only state within the European Union with this status.
