US special envoy Steve Witkoff said that Iran controls 460 kg of enriched uranium and does not want to stop its nuclear program.

Modern.az reports that Steve Witkoff told Fox News that Iranian officials threatened the US by stating during talks earlier this year that they possessed enough enriched uranium to produce 11 nuclear bombs.

"In the first meeting, both Iranian negotiators told us directly, shamelessly, that they controlled 460 kilograms of 60 percent enriched uranium, and that this was enough to produce 11 nuclear bombs," Witkoff said.

According to him, the Iranian delegation was proud of having circumvented all inspection protocols and achieved a situation where they had access to 11 nuclear bombs.

The US special envoy also recalled that Iranian officials presented the right to enrich uranium as a "starting point":

"Jared Kushner and I looked at each other in confusion and said, 'Now we are truly in a difficult situation'."

The US special envoy added that Iran could convert 60 percent enriched uranium to 90 percent enriched uranium in about a week, perhaps 10 days.

"They have virtually an endless supply," he added.

Witkoff stated that the US offered Iran 10 years to completely abandon uranium enrichment, but the other side firmly rejected it.

Donald Trump's special envoy also stated that the US president sent him and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to negotiate with Iran to abandon its missile program, limit its naval forces, end uranium enrichment, and cease support for proxy forces.

"We went and tried to reach a fair agreement with them. However, by the end of the second meeting, it became clear that this would not be possible, but we returned for a third meeting to make one last attempt."

From early February 2026 until the start of a joint US-Israel operation against Iran, three rounds of talks were held between Washington and Tehran. The first meeting took place on February 6 in Muscat, Oman. The second meeting was on February 17, and the third on February 26 in Geneva.

In the third round, US representatives Witkoff and Kushner were disappointed by what they heard during their morning meeting with Iranian negotiators.

The US-Israel operation began a few days after the talks, on the morning of February 28. During the operation, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military officials were killed.
Attacks on Iran are still ongoing... In response, the Iranian side is also striking Israel and US military bases in Middle Eastern countries.
