According to news disseminated by Iranian media, the country is preparing to announce the official results of the vote for the election of the Islamic Republic's new Supreme Leader within the coming hours or days.
Modern.az reports that the process of determining a new leader has begun following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of US and Israeli attacks. The statement emphasizes that Iran must demonstrate the continuity and unity of its Islamic system.
At the same time, reports regarding a meeting held in the building of the Assembly of Experts in Qom, where US and Israeli forces reportedly struck, have been denied. It was noted that the fact of the attack is true, but no meeting took place in the building at that time. For security reasons, it was stated that meetings continued in a remote format and with an alternative voting method.
Informed sources noted that the voting is in its final stage and the name of the new leader will be announced soon.
