In recent times, amidst increasing geopolitical tensions worldwide, various studies and maps related to possible global war scenarios are being published. One such map shows regions considered relatively safe in the event of a Third World War.
Modern.az reports that in a graphic prepared by “The World in Maps”, countries and territories marked in blue on the world map are presumed to be less affected by global military conflicts.
According to the map, areas considered safe are primarily regions located far from major military blocs or outside strategic confrontation centers from a geopolitical perspective. This list primarily includes Canada, Greenland, and Iceland, located in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions. At the same time, the northern parts of Norway and the northeastern territories of Russia are also shown as relatively safe zones.
In South America, countries located mainly in the southern part of the continent – Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay – are marked in blue on the map.
In the African continent, along with Namibia, Botswana, and the Republic of South Africa, the island of Madagascar located in the Indian Ocean is also listed among the safe zones.
In the Asian continent, Mongolia stands out. Although situated among major powers, it is noted that due to the country's neutral policy and its non-active participation in global military alliances, it may remain relatively unaffected by potential conflicts.
Among the countries located on the Pacific Ocean coasts, Australia and New Zealand are shown as one of the safest places.
Furthermore, some remote islands located in the Indian and Pacific Oceans – such as the Maldives, Seychelles, and Mauritius – are also marked with blue dots on the map.
One of the most striking parts of the map is that the entire continent of Antarctica is also shown as a safe territory. This continent, with virtually no human settlement, is considered outside the possible sphere of influence of military confrontations.
