Iran's Assembly of Experts will soon announce the name of the new Supreme Leader.
Modern.az reports that Ayatollah Hosseini Bushehri, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of Experts, informed the “Fars” Agency about this.
"The final report regarding the process of selecting and nominating the third Leader of the Islamic Republic will be announced soon," he said.
"The public can be assured that the Assembly of Experts will soon officially announce the final report regarding the process of selecting and nominating the third Leader to the public through the institution's Secretariat. It is important for citizens to show revolutionary patience and consider the current situation in the country," Ayatollah Bushehri added.
A short while ago, the "Pars Today" newspaper reported that the majority of the 88 clerics in the Assembly of Experts voted in favor of Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to the Iranian constitution, the Assembly of Experts, consisting of 88 members, has the authority to elect the country's Supreme Leader. Khamenei, who ruled Iran for 37 years, was killed on February 28 in a US-Israeli airstrike.
