US President Donald Trump commented on the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran's new supreme leader, stating that it was a wrong decision.
Modern.az reports that he spoke about this in a statement to NBC television.
“I think they made a big mistake”, he noted.
Trump also stated, when answering a question about controlling Iran's oil, that it is too early to talk about this. However, the US President has not completely ruled out such an option.
According to Trump, the course of the war in the region and the steps taken by the Iranian leadership could influence future decisions.
