Pezeshkian called Erdoğan: “We have not attacked Turkey”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Modern.az reports that the phone conversation reportedly took place at Pezeshkian's initiative.

Pezeshkian denied claims regarding Iran launching a missile strike on Turkey.  The Iranian president stated that Tehran is working to de-escalate tensions in the region and has not carried out any attack against Turkey. Pezeshkian added that he conveyed to Ankara their readiness to establish a joint investigation team to probe the incidents.

Erdoğan also emphasized that Ankara has no intention of confrontation with Iran. He noted that in the current situation, keeping the doors of diplomacy open is more important than ever.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the security situation in the region and possible steps to prevent further escalation of tensions.
