Donald Trump's concept of “Energy Dominance” (Enerji Hökmranlığı) is often simplified and presented as a policy of oil, gas, and coal. However, beneath this strategy lies a matter greater than energy – Technological Sovereignty. In the 21st century, power is no longer measured solely by tanks and missiles. Power is – computational power, data processing, the speed of artificial intelligence, and energy sustainability.
Trump, or rather his team, was among those who understood this early on.
Artificial Intelligence = Electrical Energy
Today's neural networks, large language models, military simulations, and real-time intelligence analytics demand an incredible amount of electrical energy. Data centers already “consume” as much energy as cities. The larger these centers are, the “smarter” the country becomes, but at the same time, the more dependent it becomes on energy.
At this point, the US government's line of thinking is simple, yet stark:
To win the artificial intelligence race, you must first win the energy race.
Why oil, gas, and Nuclear energy?
Renewable energy currently faces a stability problem. The sun sets, the wind stops. But artificial intelligence does not stop. Therefore
– Oil and gas are the pillars of the transition period;
– Nuclear energy, on the other hand, is considered long-term computational stability.

For this reason, the Trump administration:
– Expanded fracking;
– Maximized oil and gas production;
– Saw nuclear energy not as “old technology” but as a strategic weapon.
This is a technological reality, more than a love for ecology or the importance given to it.
Where is Venezuela on this map?
The events in Venezuela are not a side episode of this strategy, but a peripheral node.
Venezuela:
– Possesses the world's largest proven oil reserves;
– Is both an energy market and a geopolitical lever for the US;
– Is an alternative energy stronghold for China and Russia.
For Trump, the Venezuela issue is not a matter of “democracy”. This is a question of who the energy flow will serve. Whoever controls the energy also controls the artificial intelligence infrastructure. Whoever controls the infrastructure will write the rules of the game.
Artificial Intelligence Arms Race = Energy Arms Race
Today it is already clear that,
– AI models → data centers;
– Data centers → energy;
– Energy → state control.
This means artificial intelligence will never be a purely “private sector game”. Sooner or later, it will become a matter of national security. The US administration understands this and therefore directly links energy independence to digital (rəqəmsal) independence.
Thus,
Trump's Energy Dominance strategy is not against ecology, does not stem from an attachment to old industry, and is not populism. This strategy is a plan to maintain hegemony in the age of artificial intelligence.
In the 21st century, whoever dominates energy controls artificial intelligence, and whoever controls artificial intelligence will control the world.
