Ter-Petrosyan called on the opposition to unite around Karapetyan.
Modern.az reports, citing Armenian media, that according to him, the only political figure who can bring together the fragmented opposition in Armenia is Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the “Strong Armenia” Party.
This call was made at a time when the pro-Russian opposition in Armenia was discussing its chances of coming to power by uniting three different political camps ahead of the parliamentary elections to be held in June. This scenario is conditionally referred to as the “Gyumri-2” plan.
Ter-Petrosyan, leader of the Armenian National Congress, assessed the situation in the opposition camp and noted that months of negotiations had not resulted in any agreement.
“Ultimately, it must be understood that the unification of the opposition is not a political issue, but a matter of national salvation. Karapetyan, as a self-sufficient and established personality, can solve this problem,” he emphasized.
It was noted that the Armenian National Congress also announced its participation in the parliamentary elections. The party stated that Levon Zurabyan was nominated as a candidate for the prime minister's post. Samvel Karapetyan is known in Russia as the owner of the "Tashir" company and a billionaire. He aspires to become the Prime Minister of Armenia.
