One of the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran told “Reuters” agency on March 11 that the new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has sustained minor injuries but continues his duties.
According to Modern.az, the official did not clarify when Mojtaba Khamenei was injured and why he has not made any statement since being elected Supreme Leader.
It should be noted that earlier today, Yusuf Pezeshkian, son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, stated that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is in good condition after reports that he was injured during Israeli and US strikes.
Government advisor Yusuf Pezeshkian stated in a post on his Telegram channel: "I heard the news that Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei was injured. I asked some friends with an extensive network of contacts, and they said, thank God, he is fine."
A high-ranking Israeli official told Reuters that intelligence assessments indicate the new Supreme Leader sustained minor injuries, which could explain his absence from public view since the conflict began.
The news of Mojtaba Khamenei sustaining minor injuries was also reported by Qatar's "Al Jazeera" television channel.
According to "The New York Times", citing three unnamed Iranian officials, M. Khamenei sustained some injuries to his legs but did not lose consciousness and is hiding in a fortified location with limited contact.
Some time ago, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that any leader appointed by the current Iranian leadership would be an "open target for assassination."
Mojtaba was elected on February 28, 2026, to replace his father Ali Khamenei, who died on the first day of the war.
Mojtaba Khamenei, who was elected Supreme Leader on March 8, has not yet addressed the Iranian people or issued any written statement. He is known for rarely appearing in public or speaking at official events.
