According to the information, Washington's goal is to make Cuba financially dependent on the United States. According to sources, the Trump administration is trying to achieve political changes in the country and create conditions for a change in the current leadership through this method.
According to the agency's interlocutors, Trump and his supporters accuse Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel of causing the country's economy to decline. The US administration believes that the current leadership is not capable of implementing political and economic reforms in Cuba.
On March 13, Miguel Díaz-Canel announced that negotiations were being held with the US government due to the economic crisis in the country. It is reported that oil supplies from Venezuela to Cuba were halted after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was detained by US military personnel.
Following this, the US president signed a decree on the imposition of additional tariffs on goods from countries exporting oil to Cuba. This decision has led to fuel shortages and serious interruptions in electricity supply on the island.
