The Israeli army announced that several members of the “Basij” forces were killed in Tehran as a result of airstrikes.
Modern.az reports that the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on this matter.
According to the army's statement, the Israeli Air Force struck members of the “Basij” forces stationed at road checkpoints in Tehran during the night, and several of them were killed.
“Basij” is considered a voluntary paramilitary organization affiliated with the Iranian authorities. These forces are typically used to suppress anti-government protests in the country and have recently established checkpoints in various parts of Tehran.
The Israeli army stated that these strikes are part of operations carried out with the aim of neutralizing Iran's military systems and operational participants.
Israeli officials also noted that they have repeatedly called on Iranians to protest against the authorities during the conflict.
