Naina Yeltsin, the wife of Russia's first President Boris Yeltsin, has turned 94.
Modern.az reports that on this occasion, Vladimir Putin addressed a congratulatory letter to Naina Yeltsin.
It should be noted that Naina Yeltsin was born on March 14, 1932, in a large family in the village of Titovka, Sharlyk district, in what is now Orenburg Oblast. She met Boris Yeltsin while they were studying. The couple married in September 1956. In 1985, Naina moved to Moscow with Boris Yeltsin, and Yeltsin was invited to work in the Construction Department of the CPSU Central Committee there. In June of that year, he became the secretary of the Central Committee for construction, and in December, the first secretary of the Moscow City Party Committee. Boris Yeltsin was elected President of Russia on June 12, 1991, thus Naina became the first lady.
On May 31, 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "On Financial Support for B.N. Yeltsin's Widow," which established a monthly allowance of 195,000 rubles for Naina Yeltsin.
