Iran has warned Romania that a political and legal response will be given if it allows the United States to use military bases located on its territory for operations against Iran.
Modern.az reports that Esmail Bəqai, the official spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this at a weekly press conference. He noted that Tehran calls on other countries not to get involved in the conflict.
“If Romania allows the United States to use its military bases, this will be considered participation in military aggression against Iran,” the Iranian diplomat emphasized.
According to Esmail Bəqai, such a step would be considered unacceptable from the perspective of international law and could create “international responsibility” for Romania.
It is noted that several military facilities used by NATO and US forces exist in Romania, and the country is considered one of the alliance's main military-logistical centers in the Black Sea region.
