An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 was recorded off the eastern coast of Cuba in the Caribbean Sea.
Modern.az reports that this was noted in the information from the US Geological Survey.
It was reported that the earthquake's hypocenter was located at a depth of 12 km.
According to operational processing data from the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the earthquake's epicenter was located 45 km south of the city of Baracoa and approximately 13 km from the coast.
Based on the intensity of tremors at the epicenter, the seismic event is assessed as "very strong" (5.5).
