Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has rejected proposals addressed to Tehran by two countries that played a mediating role in the negotiation process, regarding de-escalation or a ceasefire with the US and Israel.
Modern.az reports this, citing foreign media.
Reuters, citing an unnamed high-ranking Iranian official, reports that Khamenei, in his first meeting on foreign policy, demonstrated a "harsh and serious" stance against the US and Israel, demanding "revenge".
It should be noted that due to the lack of a concrete agreement in the negotiations between the US and Iran regarding the nuclear program, the US and Israel began military air attacks on Iran starting February 28. In response, Iran also attacked Israel and US military facilities in regional countries with missiles and drones from the same day.
On the first day of military air attacks on Iran, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military officials died. On March 8, Iran's Assembly of Experts, by a majority vote, elected Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as Iran's 3rd Supreme Leader.
Between March 1-5, the confrontation further escalated, encompassing various countries in the Middle East.
The US side's losses were reported as 13 dead and over 140 wounded.
As a result of the conflict, the region's energy infrastructure and maritime transport have also come under serious risk. Due to security tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices on the world market have sharply increased, and several countries have urged their citizens to leave the region.
