In Switzerland's famous Crans-Montana mountain resort, a powerful fire and explosion occurred at the “Le Constellation” bar during a New Year's celebration.
Modern.az reports that Azerbaijani journalist Elbəyi Həsənli, residing in Switzerland, disseminated information about this. He stated, citing official information, that approximately 40 people died and about 115 people were injured during the incident, many of whom are in serious condition. The incident was recorded on the morning of January 1, 2026.
Police and firefighters were deployed to the area, and the investigation is ongoing. In initial statements, the suspicion of a terrorist act was ruled out; the cause of the incident is still being investigated.
The injured are being treated in nearby hospitals, and the identities of the victims are being determined. Government officials and international leaders have offered their condolences regarding the tragedy.
