Changes are being made in Azerbaijan regarding the days that will be considered the start of the actual military service period for a number of servicemen.
Modern.az reports that a change is proposed to the "Regulations on Military Service" in this regard.
The bill was discussed at today's meeting of the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee.
It was noted that for conscripts, the day they are sent to a military unit by the relevant executive authority will be considered the start of actual military service.
According to the current law, this was counted from the day they arrived at the military commissariat to be sent to a military unit.
For soldiers, sailors, and sergeants in extended actual military service, the day the contract is signed will be considered the start of their actual military service for those who voluntarily enter actual military service on a contractual basis.
According to the current law, for these individuals, it was counted from the day the order on their admission to extended actual military service and appointment to a position was signed.
According to the change, for warrant officers and midshipmen in actual military service, the day the contract is signed will be considered the start of their actual military service for those who voluntarily enter actual military service on a contractual basis.

Furthermore, for reserve officers called (admitted) to military service immediately after graduating from a higher or secondary specialized military educational institution, the day the order on their call-up (admission) to military service is signed will be considered the start of their actual military service.
The bill also states that female citizens of Azerbaijan aged 19 to 40, who have military registration specialties approved by the relevant executive authority, are registered for military service with their consent and are admitted to actual military service in the Armed Forces on a contractual basis. The day the contract is signed will be considered the start of their actual military service.
The transportation of citizens called for fixed-term actual military service to the assembly points (military units) of the state bodies (institutions) where they will serve is carried out by the relevant executive authority.
Before individuals called for fixed-term actual military service are sent to military units, the relevant executive authority at their place of registration, or, if they are admitted to a special-purpose educational institution training military personnel, the administration of that institution, temporarily takes the conscript's (cadet's) identity card and sends it to the relevant executive authority to be kept until the actual military service ends and then returned to its owner.
It was stated that the identity cards of military personnel and cadets undergoing fixed-term actual military service under the relevant executive authority are temporarily taken and kept by that institution.
Military tickets will be issued to citizens called for fixed-term actual military service and to cadets of special-purpose educational institutions training military personnel.
According to the current law, for women not on military registration, the start of military service was counted as the day the order on granting a military rank was signed, no earlier than the day of departure to the place specified in the military commissariat's order.
Before the change, the dispatch of Azerbaijani citizens called for fixed-term actual military service was carried out by the military commissariat through the Republican assembly point (assembly point of the autonomous republic). Before sending individuals called for actual military service to military units, district (city) military commissariats would take their identity cards in the prescribed manner and issue them military tickets upon receiving a commitment.
