The smuggling of a large quantity of narcotic substances into the country has been prevented.
According to information provided by the Press Center of the State Border Service to Modern.az, measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and combat the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are successfully continuing. On February 20, in the service area of the "Goytapa" border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, an attempt to violate the state border by 4 (four) unknown individuals from the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the Republic of Azerbaijan was observed.
The border outpost was immediately raised on the "To Arms" command, and necessary measures were taken to prevent the violation of the state border.
The border patrol issued a "Stop" command and pursued the border violators, firing warning shots into the air. However, the border violators, disobeying the command, offered armed resistance, opened fire with the aim of assaulting the lives of border guards, threw away the packages they were carrying, and fled back, taking advantage of the darkness and the forested terrain.
As a result of border search and operational measures conducted jointly with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 3 (three) packages belonging to the border violators, containing a total of 33 kilograms 900 grams of narcotic substances and other material evidence, were discovered and seized in the area.
The opposing side was informed about the incident through the border representation channel.
