The pots for the participants of the European zone play-off matches for the FIFA World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico in June-July 2026 have been determined.
Modern.az reports that the composition of the pots is as follows:
Pot 1: Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Ukraine;
Pot 2: Poland, Wales, Czech Republic, Slovakia;
Pot 3: Ireland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo;
Pot 4: Sweden, Romania, North Macedonia, Northern Ireland.
The play-off participants will play two single-match rounds - semi-final and final encounters - for a spot in the World Cup final.
The semi-final matches will be held on March 26, and the final matches on March 31. The play-off draw ceremony will take place on November 20.
The teams in Pot 1 will face the national teams in Pot 4, while the teams in Pot 2 will face the representatives of the countries in Pot 3.
