Brotherly Turkey continues its successes in sports tourism. The winter season creates great excitement and special revitalization in this field. Erzurum's famous Palandöken ski center, one of Turkey's most important winter sports centers, is preparing to host an international sports competition.
Erzurum, which has firmly strengthened its position in the international arena, has been selected as the "Tourism Capital of 2025" by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). At the same time, it has also been declared the "First European Winter Sports Capital" by the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES). Thus, the Palandöken ski center, with its modern infrastructure and favorable conditions, is ready to host prestigious competitions.
The FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup will be held at Erzurum's Palandöken Ski Center on March 6-8 of the current year. It should be noted that Palandöken will host a competition of this kind for the second time. Approximately 300 athletes from 20 countries are expected to participate in the snowboard cross competitions. During the 3-day adrenaline-filled races, the world's most skilled snowboarders will compete for first place on Palandöken's challenging slopes. These fast and exciting moments will once again bring Erzurum into the spotlight of international sports media.
This year, Palandöken Ski Center attracts attention not only with international sports competitions but also with vibrant events that add color to the winter season. The "Frozen Festival" event has been traditionally held annually at the center since 2020.
The city of Palandöken is one of the interesting destinations for tourism. It is famous for Tortum Waterfall, Narman Fairy Chimneys, and İspir Seven Lakes, which are among Turkey's most magnificent natural wonders, as well as the Grand Mosque and Double Minaret Madrasah, and the Aziziye and Mecidiye fortress positions. Its cuisine is insatiable. The famous "Çağ kebabı" cooked over a wood fire and the syrupy "Kadayıf dolması" are very delicious.
