One of the main reasons for the increase in physical health-related diseases in the future is overweight and obesity. This is an already proven fact. We would wish that respected business people in our country would reduce the number of wedding palaces and increase the number of sports centers. The more sports infrastructure is built, the better, and this would also stimulate a healthy lifestyle in society.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by MP Vugar Iskandarov during a meeting of the Youth and Sports Committee with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and sports federations.
The MP emphasized that Olympic programs should be established from the regions:
“In the future, a systematic mechanism should be formed for the early detection of talents in the regions. There is a need for a broader selection base, especially in team sports and heavyweights. However, our country, even its most remote villages, possesses great potential. For this, cooperation should be established between the state, federations, schools, and families. Youth and Sports departments operate in the regions, but we should not limit ourselves to district centers; we must definitely extend to the villages. Experience shows that districts are covered to some extent, but work in villages is weak, and special attention should be paid to this.” .
He stated that regular selection days should be organized in every city and district:
“These selections can even be held in a festive format. Physical education teachers, specially trained specialists, and ministry representatives can be involved in this process. Establishing an early physical testing system in schools is also important. This is significant both for monitoring children's health indicators and for timely identification of talented children.”
Vugar Iskandarov also spoke about the importance of providing scholarships to children who excel in sports:
“The creation of a special scholarship fund for promising children would be an important step for their stimulation and continuous involvement in sports. As the President emphasized in recent consultations, digital transformation is now a requirement of the time. A unified digital platform should also be created in the field of sports. This platform can integrate the unified online system of all federations,” the MP concluded.
