The semi-finalists of the Azerbaijan Football Cup have been determined. "Qarabağ" for the 21st time, "Zirə" for the 6th time, and "Sabah" and "Turan Tovuz" for the 2nd time have advanced past the 1/4 final barrier.
Modern.az reports, citing the official website of the Professional Football League, that "Qarabağ", which emerged victorious from the struggle with "Şamaxı" (1:2, 3:1), has become a co-holder of the Azerbaijan Cup record. The Aghdam club has reached "Neftçi", which advanced to within a step of the final 21 times.
"Zirə", which overcame "Sumqayıt" in the aggregate of two matches (0:0, 2:0), has become the 7th team to reach the semi-finals at least 6 times. In addition to the co-record holders, "Şamaxı" (12), "Qəbələ" (11), "Bakı", and "Khazar Lankaran" (8 each) have also achieved this.
"Turan Tovuz" by stopping "Kəpəz" (1:0, 2:0), and "Sabah" by stopping "Qəbələ" (0:0, 3:3, pen.4:2) have increased the number of teams reaching the semi-finals at least 2 times to 18.
