Iran national team in the World Cup will not participate

Iran's Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali stated on Wednesday that Iran will not participate in the "2026 FIFA World Cup" to be held in 2026, after the US claimed to have killed the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Modern.az reports that the minister stated this during his speech on state television.

“Since this corrupt regime killed our leader, we will under no circumstances participate in the World Cup”, – he noted during his speech. 

It should be noted that the World Cup to be held in 2026 will be co-hosted by three countries. The tournament will be held in the territories of the USA, Canada, and Mexico. For the first time, 42 teams are expected to participate in the game.
