In recent years, BYD, which has become the most frequently encountered electric vehicle in Azerbaijan's automotive market, especially on the streets of Baku, is now preparing to surpass Tesla globally.
Modern.az reports, citing Bloomberg, that according to the company's latest report, the Chinese giant, which ended 2025 with a record sale of 4.6 million units, has solidified its status as the world's number one electric car manufacturer.
This brand, which has gained the favor of drivers in our country with both its economy and modern technology, continues to grow despite the challenges it faces in the global arena. Although the reduction in government incentives in China, as well as pressure from competitors like Geely and Xiaomi, has reduced BYD's profits, the company has found a way out in foreign markets. It is reported that the brand, whose overseas sales have exceeded the 1 million mark, plans to achieve a total of 5.3 million sales in 2026.
The expansion of official sales centers and service networks in Azerbaijan is also considered part of this growth trend. It should be noted that although the statistics for 2025 have not been released, sales of BYD cars in the country increased 4-fold in 2024.
