The Armenian Ministry of Economy has confirmed the information regarding the shipment of the next batch of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
It should be recalled that Azerbaijani media reported today that the next batch of oil products would be sent to Armenia. It was noted that this time, the transportation of 1000 tons of A92 brand gasoline, the same amount of diesel fuel, and 1800 tons of A95 gasoline from Azerbaijan to Armenia is planned.
It should be noted that the first import of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia took place at the end of 2025. At that time, a train consisting of 22 wagons transported 1218 tons of A95 brand gasoline to Armenia.
In a statement to Modern.az, economist Ilham Shaban, touching upon Azerbaijan-Armenia economic relations, noted that trade between the two countries is regulated by a commercial agreement. Since it is an inter-company sale and not a direct state-level or political matter, a mandatory report to the public on this is not envisaged:
“Nevertheless, information regarding the price in manats at which gasoline was sold to Armenia will be published in the State Statistical Committee's “Bulletin on International Trade” two months after the sale.”
Ilham Shaban added that a long-term contract for gasoline sales has not been concluded. The expert also clarified that the “AI-95” brand gasoline sold by Azerbaijan to Armenia in December at 430 drams (1.93 AZN) per liter was 17% cheaper than the fuel imported by Yerevan from Russia.
“Assuming obligations for years is not even correct. This is a market. If an agreement is not reached, trade may cease at some point. As for the sale to Armenia being cheaper than the gasoline we sell to other countries, this is also in accordance with the rules. Armenia is the closest neighboring country. Naturally, the low logistics costs will have an impact.”
