The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has started supplying Azerbaijani gas to Austria and Germany.

Information on this was provided by SOCAR to Modern.az.

It was stated that, by selling a significant volume of gas transported via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is the European segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, to the South and Central European markets, SOCAR has commenced the next important stage in Azerbaijan's gas export.

Specifically, starting from January 2026, Azerbaijani gas is supplied to buyers from Austria and Germany, among other countries.

The gas supply carried out to Austria and Germany via Italy further expands the geographical coverage of Azerbaijani gas in Europe. Thus, the number of countries receiving Azerbaijani gas has reached 16.

In accordance with the gas strategy formulated under the leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, SOCAR continuously expands its gas marketing activities in the European and Middle Eastern regions, increases its cooperation portfolio with buyers from various countries, and further strengthens Azerbaijan's position as a reliable energy supplier.
