“According to the Law "On Labor Pensions", the indexation and increase of labor pensions also apply to January each year. Pensions for January have already been fully paid. What is the reason for not providing increases this month, and when will the increases be paid?
Modern.az reports that Milli Majlis deputy Vugar Bayramov shared information about this on his social media account.
The deputy stated that, according to current legislation, pensions are indexed and increased each year in January, in accordance with the percentage increase in the average monthly salary of the previous year.
"Although the exact increase percentage is not yet known, increases are calculated starting from this month. Based on the results of the first 11 months of 2025, the average monthly salary across the country has increased by 9.3 percent. The annual total is expected to be 9.2 percent. The exact official figure will be announced by the State Statistical Committee at the beginning of next month.
Since the official statistics regarding the increase in average monthly salary in 2025 will be known within the first 10 days of February, indexation will be carried out at that time. Pension increases are calculated from January 1st, but the increases will be paid together in February. Therefore, pensioners will receive the increases starting from next month. However, the increase calculated for January will also be added to the February pension amount".
According to V. Bayramov, indexation applies to all types of labor pensions. According to Article 4 of the Law "On Labor Pensions", three types of labor pensions are established:
"These are old-age labor pension, disability labor pension, and labor pension for loss of family breadwinner. Therefore, if our citizen receives a labor pension, regardless of its type, an increase will be calculated for their pension amount," the deputy noted.
