In January 2026, Azerbaijan's total non-oil exports increased compared to the same month of the previous year. Non-oil exports, which amounted to 246.1 million dollars in January 2025, reached 268.4 million dollars in the same period of 2026.
In January, among industrial products, copper ores and concentrates attracted attention with exports worth 20.5 million dollars. In January 2025, this figure was at the level of 2.4 million dollars.
On the other hand, tomato exports among agricultural products amounted to 13.6 million dollars. In January 2025, 14.7 million dollars had been recorded.
Economist Eyyub Kərimli stated in his declaration to Modern.az that the decrease in tomato exports is related to seasonal factors:
“At the same time, as you know, tomato exports were mostly directed to Russia. The Russia-Ukraine war is entering its fifth year. The military situation in both countries has not been without economic impact”.
The economist noted that there are copper deposits in Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, and Gubadli:
“Copper deposits in Karabakh, in Kalbajar, have been put into circulation. The involvement of deposits that have not been worked for years in production has yielded such a positive result”.
Eyyub Kərimli noted that the countries to which we export copper are China, Turkey, Georgia, and others.
“Currently, copper is an essential raw material in the production of electric motor vehicles”, the economist added.
