US actions – measures against Venezuela and a military operation against Iran – have complicated oil supplies to China.
Modern.az reports that the Politico portal writes about this, citing data from the analytical company Kpler.
“Last year, almost all Iranian oil and more than half of Venezuelan oil were sent to China… Together, both countries provided approximately 17% of China's oil imports… China has already started reducing imports from Iran in 2026”, – the material states.
According to the information, approximately half of China's total oil imports came from countries facing disruptions in their trade. In addition to Iran and Venezuela, the discussion concerns five other partner countries of China whose logistics routes are connected to the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had previously announced the closure of this strait.
After the US and Israel began military operations against Iran, Iranian authorities imposed a ban on the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that all ships attempting to pass through the strategic waterway would be destroyed.
