“Regarding the issue of systematic planning and year-on-year price changes, we also have certain plans in this direction.”

According to Modern.az, this was stated by Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov at the public hearing held today by the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis on the topic “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture: Results and Prospects.”

The Minister noted that in the initial stage, based on the data collected – both in the Electronic Agricultural Information System and in statistical databases – it is planned to inform farmers in advance about the volume of products the country needs.

He stated that, based on simple algorithms, farmers will be provided with information on the country's demand for specific products and whether the cultivated areas are already sufficient.

“In the second stage, this mechanism should become one of the tools of agrarian policy. It is envisaged that after the production of products sufficient for the country's needs, cultivated areas exceeding that volume will not be supported by subsidies.

In this case, farmers can still freely cultivate the products they desire. However, subsidies will not be provided for cultivated areas exceeding a certain volume.”

M. Mammadov noted that our country does not favor the state procurement model. We have largely moved away from this approach since the Soviet era.

“We primarily encourage the access of farmers' products to markets and the formation of joint operational mechanisms,” he stated.
