The demolition of old buildings in Baku is carried out based on the document submitted by the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture. In addition to buildings whose service life has expired, buildings in a dilapidated state and those located in planned areas can also be demolished. Currently, the demolition of buildings constructed during the Soviet era in Baku is ongoing.
Real estate expert Ramil Osmanlı stated in his statement to Modern.az that currently, there are old buildings in all 12 districts of Baku. And all of them will be demolished in due course:
“Buildings constructed during the Soviet era - "Khrushchyovka" (1950–1960), "Brezhnevka"s (1970–1980), Lenin project (1950–1960), German project (1960–1970), "Stalinka" (1930–1950), all will be demolished. The service life of these buildings was intended for 50-60 years for that period. But they are still inhabited”.
