Dadkes.az, one of Azerbaijan's well-known culinary platforms, has recently been receiving death threat messages from Iran under various names on its social media page.
The blog's author stated in a declaration to Modern.az that they were targeted for sharing videos related to regional cuisine.
According to information, users, presumed to be employees of Iranian special services, are sending death threats to the page owner. The reason for the threats is cited as the preparation of dishes belonging to Tabriz, Julfa, Ardabil, Urmia, and other Southern Azerbaijan regions in the blog, and the use of the Azerbaijani flag in these videos. The sharing of the aforementioned visuals has been assessed as a “political gesture” by certain circles, leading to attacks coordinated via social media in Iran.
Page owner Ülkər Zeynalova stated that the events constitute a targeting of freedom of expression and adherence to cultural heritage: “We are simply promoting the cuisine and traditions of our compatriots. The increase in threats concerns me, and therefore I will appeal to the relevant state institutions.”
Currently, it is being investigated by which groups the threat messages are being coordinated.
The management of Dadkes.az has confirmed that they will appeal to law enforcement and special services and noted that they will not cease their activities.
The incident has sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many users expressing support for the blog owner and emphasizing that the promotion of cultural heritage can under no circumstances become an object of threat.
