Famous Azerbaijani film director Jafar Panahi called on the world to show solidarity with protesters in Iran.
Modern.az reports that, the director, who was awarded by American film critics for his film "A Simple Accident", made this call in his speech.
"Currently, the Iranian government is shooting protesters; a brutal massacre is openly taking place in the streets. The Islamic Republic has organized this to delay its downfall. It is my duty to call on filmmakers everywhere to speak out. Use your voice, use any platform you have. Demand that your governments intervene. Do not turn a blind eye. This is a humanitarian catastrophe".
It should be recalled that Jafar Panahi was born in 1960 in Miyana. He is a laureate of the prestigious Berlin, Cannes, and Venice film festivals.
