In accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Theatre and Theatre Activities", the statutes, structure, and staff schedules of state theatres have been revised and approved. The adopted changes cover 23 state theatres operating across the country.
This information was provided by the Ministry of Culture in response to an inquiry from Modern.az.
It was stated that within the framework of the new approach, with the aim of optimizing the existing management model, 2 artistic director, 21 chief director, and 23 chief artist staff units were abolished, and the functions of these positions were assigned to the performance of relevant duties in accordance with the staff schedule.
Currently, individuals performing these duties continue their activities in accordance with the updated structure of the theatres, holding positions such as stage director, head of the creative department, artist, and set designer.
It should be noted that in the 23 theatres operating across the republic:
2 artistic directors (Azerbaijan State National Drama Theatre and Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre),
13 chief directors (Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theatre, Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theatre, Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre, Azerbaijan State Yuğ Theatre, Shusha State Musical Drama Theatre, Iravan State Azerbaijani Drama Theatre, Sumgayit State Drama Theatre, Aghdam State Drama Theatre, Fuzuli State Drama Theatre, Ganja State Puppet Theatre, Salyan State Puppet Theatre, and Gakh State Georgian Drama Theatre named after Ilya Chavchavadze),
15 chief artists (Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theatre, Azerbaijan State National Young Spectators' Theatre, Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre, Azerbaijan State Yuğ Theatre, Shusha State Musical Drama Theatre, Sumgayit State Drama Theatre, Shaki State Drama Theatre, Ganja State National Drama Theatre, Aghdam State Drama Theatre, Fuzuli State Drama Theatre, Ganja State Puppet Theatre, Salyan State Puppet Theatre, and Gakh State Puppet Theatre) – the performance of the functions of the respective staff units has been taken into account during the execution of other duties within the updated structure.
The main purpose of these changes is to increase the flexibility of theatre management mechanisms, strengthen the efficiency of the creative process, and form an institutional model in line with modern management principles.
