An operation has been carried out against "Can Holding", considered one of Turkey's influential companies. The Küçükçekmece Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case against the company on charges of establishing a criminal organization, smuggling, fraud, and money laundering.
121 companies affiliated with the holding, including “Habertürk” and “Show TV”, have been seized, and arrest warrants have been issued for 8 high-ranking executives.
Modern.az contacted Bülent Aydemir, the Ankara representative of “Habertürk” and a journalist, regarding the events.
In his statement to our website, he stated that this issue is not related to journalists:
“Professionally, we are doing our job. I have been within this group since its establishment, and I have worked with different managers. We are journalists, employees, and we will continue our work. Believe me, I don't know what happened or what the investigation covers. However, we are at our posts; I came in the morning, opened my computer, I am writing my articles, and I am following the media and the agenda.”
B. Aydemir noted that he believes “Habertürk” is a well-established institution and its brand value will not be harmed:
“What happened will become clear in 1-2 days. Currently, “Habertürk” television is on air, our newspaper is being published, and our news and articles are being released. The infrastructure of this group is strong and sound. “Habertürk” is a well-established institution. I do not believe its brand value will be harmed either. Everything will become clear in a day or two. At least for journalists, there is no problem. A journalist does their job everywhere.”
