On January 5, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to five employees of local television channels.
One of the television journalists who interviewed the head of state was Nadia Cani, an employee of the international AnewZ TV channel, which operates in English in Azerbaijan.
Nadia Cani primarily worked as a journalist in Britain. With 9 years of experience, Nadia worked for prestigious English media companies such as BBC News, ITV, Sky News, The Telegraph, and Channel 4 News.
She started working at the AnewZ international English-language television channel, which began operations in Azerbaijan in 2024.
According to Modern.az, Nadia Cani stated that participating in the interview with President Ilham Aliyev was an honorable mission for her:
“This was the first such opportunity given to me to interview President Ilham Aliyev. I was very excited. However, together with my fellow journalists who are quite experienced in their professional activities, I tried to perform my work at the highest level.”
According to Nadia Cani, being at the Presidential Palace, meeting the head of state, and learning his views on international global politics, as well as Azerbaijan's position in all processes, was a valuable experience for her.
“After the interview, which lasted approximately three hours, we also had the opportunity to communicate personally with the President for a short period. We shook hands with him and took souvenir photos.
President Ilham Aliyev is an extremely sincere, professional, and kind person. This interview was an unforgettable experience for me.
As I mentioned, this was the first time I participated in this type of interview, and I am very pleased with the outcome.”
